Wine Style Differences

Old World wines come from cooler regions, so grapes are not fully ripened, producing wines that tend to be lighter-bodied, and lower alcohol, exhibiting more herb, earth, mineral and floral components.  They are subtle, less fruity with more structure, higher acidity and tannins than New World wines.

New World wines come from warmer regions, so the grapes are more ripened, producing wines that tend to have more sugar and more alcohol.  They are full-bodied with lower acidity and fruit-forward.  Often, they are oak-influenced.
